This blog, A Novel Process, is a way for me to keep myself motivated and provide myself with some accountability. I'll be using the blog along with Twitter to monitor my process. You can follow the Twitter posts if you look for the hashtag #kpnovelrev.
I want to draw your attention to two of the pages on this blog - Wordcount and Inspiration. Wordcount will include information about progress; I'll post updates about what I've accomplished and when I'm actually drafting again, I'll include actual wordcounts. Until then, I'll just talk about what I've done. Inspiration will include information about the books, movies, music, and TV shows I've been watching that give me ideas for my story.
Now I need a plan of attack. So, here it is:
1. Go through my writing group members' posts and and create a list of things I want to change. This will include some of the MAJOR plot changes as well as some minor ones.
2. I will create a list of events I definitely want to keep. This could include scenes, particular lines or phrases.
3. One of the first things I need to do is develop the world of my characters a little more. I'll write out the rules my main characters will live by and might even draw or paint pictures to help me get a better idea of how to describe the settings.
I feel better knowing I have a plan. I can't wait to get started. I just need to get a writing schedule set and a place to work comfortably. My home office is in complete shambles and I hate getting out of bed in the morning. So, either I try to write in the evenings or I force myself to get up early because I can't rely on weekends because then I'll never get done.
Wish me luck and until next time,
